Batate Badane Palya /Potato Brinjal Masala
  • Potato -1 Medium
  • Brinjal -2 ( i used Mysuru Badane/Green Long variety )
  • Onion -1
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Urid Dhal - 1 tsp
  • Chana Dhal -1 tsp
  • Hing/Asafoetida-2 pinch
  • Curry Leaves -1 sprig
  • Tamarind - Marble size
  • Chilly Powder- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder-1/4 th tsp
  • Coriander  Powder-1 tsp
  • Salt to taste


Method
Wash Potato , peel n chop into 2 inch cubicles

Wash brinjal's n chop into 2 inch pieces

Chop Onion

Soak tamarind in little water for about 20 mts n then extract the thick juice .

In a kadai add oil n splutter mustard seeds, add urid dhal, chana dhal n stir for few seconds . Add hing n curry leaves n stir again , now add all the powder's n stir for few seconds . Add Tamarind extract along with salt n then add chopped potato n cook till potato is 90 % cooked n soft .Add The chopped brinjal pieces n add a little water if needed n cook till done .
