Ukde Seeth, Bikkand Batate Upkari ,Kuvale Sasama , North Kanara style Dhal , Happolu, Pappodu ,Curds n Pickle .

Ukde Seeth, Bikkand Batate Upkari ,Kuvale Sasama , North Kanara style Dhal , Happolu, Pappodu ,Curds n Pickle .

Bikkand Batate Upkari /Jackfruit seeds n Potato stir fry 
  • Bikkand /Jack fruit seeds ... 14 to 16 
  • Potato .. 2 medium 
  • Oil..2 tsp 
  • Mustard seeds ..1/2 tsp 
  • Hing/ Asafoetida .. 2 pinch 
  • Broken Dry Red chilly ...3 
  • Salt to taste 
  • Water ..little . 

Method
 Remove the skin of Jackfruit seeds and peel the potatoes n chop both of them lengthwise .

 In a kadai add oil n splutter mustard seeds , add hing n broken dry red chilly n fry for a while .Add the chopped jackfruit seeds n potatoes , water n cook till done . 

Kuvale Sasama ( Ash gourd in coconut based gravy )
  • Kuvale/Ash gourd-1/2 kg
  • Grated coconut-1 cup 
  • Roasted dry red chillies- 4 to 5 
  • Tamarind- tamarind seed size
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp 
  • Salt to taste 

Seasoning

  • Oil-1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves-1 sprig 

Method 

Scrap the hard skin of Ash gourd n chop it to 2 inch square pieces. 

Cook these pieces with little water and salt .

Grind grated coconut , Roasted chillies , tamarind n salt  to a fine paste .. n when just about to remove the paste add the mustard seeds n grind again for a minute . 

Add the ground paste to the cooked ash gourd and boil , then give the seasoning


 North Kanara style Dhal 
  • Thoor dhal- 1cup
  • Tomato-1
  • Ginger- 1 inch piece
    Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp 
  • Green chillies-2 or according to the taste 
  •  Salt to taste 
Seasoning 
  • Oil/ghee-1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chilly-1

Garnishing 

Chopped coriander leaves 

Method

Soak Thoor dhal for about 10 mts n then pressure cook it with Chopped ginger, slit green chillies , chopped tomato n turmeric powder .... then add water n make it to a pouring consistency add salt n then do the seasoning n garnishing .
