Terrace Grown Pathal Pathrado
- Raw Rice- 1 Cup
- Thur dhal-1 fist
- Grated Coconut -2-1/2 cup's
- Hing/Asafoetida-Small piece
- Tamarind -Marble size
- Roasted dry red chilly -10 to 12 or according to the taste
- Salt a required
- Pathrade paan /colocasia leaves -15 to 20 tender ones n mostly here small leaves are used, which cannot be made as pathrado ..
- Water -5 to 6 cup's .
Seasosing
- Oil ..1 tblsp
- Mustard seeds ..1 tsp heaped
- Urid Dhal ..1 tsp heaped .
- Methi Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Soak rice n thur dhal for 2 hours .
Remove fiber from the leaves if any as small tender ones usually dont have n wash .
Chop the leaves finely .
Grind grated coconut, roasted dry chillies,hing n tamarind to a fine paste ... then add soaked rice n thur dhal n grind to a medium paste ( neither coarse nor fine ) without adding water . Can sprinkle water if required .Remove the the batter and add chopped pathrade leaves n salt . mix well .
In a thick bottomed kadai add oil n then splutter mustard seeds. Then add urid dhal n methi seeds ,roast till brown , then add the above batter , water and cook it covered n check in between n also stir ,so that it does not stick at the bottom n cook till the tender leaves are cooked ... Add water n adjust salt as needed .
Note : The consistency has to be medium . neither thick or thin .
Can be used as a dip for Shevai n also for Rice .
