Batate Rotti ( Spicy Potato Rotti )
For the outer cover
- Wheat flour - 2 cups
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Water as required to prepare a soft dough
- Salt to taste .
For the stuffing
- Potato - 4 medium
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder- 2 tsp
- Hing/Asafoetida - a generous pinch
- Salt to taste
Method
In a bowl add the wheat flour, salt, oil and water ... prepare a soft dough n keep aside for 20 mts.
Pressure cook potatoes . cool n mash it well .
In a kadai add oil , splutter mustard seeds, add in hing n fry for a second , switch off and then add chilly powder , salt .. let it cool .
Then pour this over the mashed potatoes n mix well .
Take small portion of the dough and flatten into a disc, place a tablespoon of the stuffing in the centre of the disc and pinch the sides together around the filing and roll out as chapathis .Roast on both sides on hot tawa ,smeared with oil.
