Bas Saaru ( Basida Saaru )
- Any mixed greens like Palak. Amaranth Leaves, methi, sabsige , chiklavre , honegone etc etc ) all 1 bunch each except sabsige -1/4 th bunch as it has a strong odur ... But i used only Honegone soppu - nearly 1 kg ...
- Thur dhal- 3/4 th cup
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 th tsp
- Salt to taste
To Grind
- Grated coconut- 1 tblsp
- Onion - 1
- Tomato-1
- Rasam Powder-1or 2 tsp
- Green chilly - 1
- Cooked dhal n cooked greens- 1/2 cup
Seasoning
- Oil/ghee- 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves- 1 sprig
Method
Wash the greens well.
Wash the thur dhal well .
Pressure cook greens with thur dhal, turmeric powder n salt , only for one whistle .
Drain it in colander to separate the water.keep aside the dhal n greens to prepare palya .
Now grind the grated coconut, chopped onion, chopped tomato , rasam powder green chilly n 1/2 cup cooked dhal n cooked greens to a fine paste .
In a vessel add the cooked drained dhal greens water, ground paste n boil well . Later give the seasoning .
Bus saaru is ready to serve .
Palya
- Oil- 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
- Urid dhal- 1tsp
- Chana dhal- 1 tsp
- Hing/Asafoetida- a pinch
- Curry leaves- 1 sprig
- Dry red chilles- 3
- Jaggery - Green peas size
- Salt to tatse
Garnishing
- Grated coconut- 1 tblsp
Method
In a kadai add oil, splutter mustard seeds n then add curry leaves, urid , chana dhal , hing n fry for a while .Then add torn dry red chilles n fry again for a minute . Add jaggery piece, salt n cooked dhal with greens . Mix well n then do the garnishing ,
Palya is ready .
