Marwadi Dhal Dokli
For Dokli
- Whole Wheat Flour- 1 cup
- Red chilly powder- 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 th tsp
- Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
- Ajwain (carom seeds) - 1/2 tsp
- Garlic flakes- 3
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
- Oil- 3 tsp
- water a little to knead the dough
- salt to taste
Method
Pound coriander seeds, ajwain , garlic flakes n keep aside .
In a wide bottomed vessel , add the whole wheat flour , salt, pound ingredients , all the powders , oil and just enough water to knead a stiff dough ... make tinny balls of the dough n flatten them .keep aside .
For Dhal
- Split green gram with skin - 1 cup
Seasoning
- Oil/ghee- 3 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
- Hing/Asafoetida- generous pinch
- Curry leaves- 1 sprig
- Tomatoes- 2 medium
- Onions - 2 medium
- Garlic flakes- 4
- Green chilly -2
- Chilly powder- 1 tsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Cumin powder -1/2 tsp
Garnishing
- Coriander leaves chopped - 2 tsp
- Lime juice - 1 tsp
Method
Wash the split green gram .keep aside
Crush green chilles n garlic flakes .
In a pressure cooker , add oil/ghee , splutter mustard seeds , add cumin seeds , hing , curry leaves , crushed garlic , crushed green chilles n fry well till it gives an aroma . Add chopped onions n fry till golden brown , add chopped tomatoes n salt fry till the raw smell goes n it becomes mushy . Add all the powders n fry for a minute . Add the washed split green gram with skin , enough water n drop the prepared dhokli one by one gently ... Pressure cook for 1 whistle .
Then do the garnishing .
