Varahi /Barnyard Millet Pulov with Ground Green Masala with Tomato Onion Raitha .
- Varahi /Barnyard Millet -1 cup
- Water-1-3/4 th cups
- Onion-2 medium
- Whole green cardamon -2
- Broken cashew nuts - a few
- Cloves - 3
- Cinnamon stick -1/2 inch piece
- Green peas-1/2 cup
- Beans -10
- Carrot-1
- Ghee-4 tsp
- Onion -1 medium
- Tomatoes -2 medium
- Garlic-6 flakes
- Cinnamon-1 inch stick
- Cloves-4
- Ginger..1/2 inch piece
- Coriander leaves-one fist
- Mint leaves- one fist
- Green chillies -4 or according to the taste
- Salt to taste
Method
Dry roast barnyard millet on sim flame till warm.. cool n then wash it .
chop the vegetables .
Grind chopped onion , tomatoes, garlic flakes , ginger ,cinnamon, cloves, green chillies ,coriander leaves,mint leaves , to a fine paste without adding water
In a pressure cooker add ghee , whole cardamom, cashew nuts, cloves n Cinnamon stick n roast it for few seconds .. then add chopped onion n fry till transparent , add the ground paste n fry till the raw smell goes , add the dry roasted barnyard millet n roast for few seconds then add the chopped vegetable along with green peas , add in water , salt n mix well n cook for 2 whistle .
Serve with Raitha .
Note :for extra flavour, cloves n Cinnamon can be added along with onions while frying
