Phova Usli /Beaten Rice Usli
- Thick Phovu ..1 cup
- Salt to taste
Seasoning
- Oil..2 tsp
- Mustard seeds ..1/2 tsp
- Urid Dhal.. 1/2 tsp
- Green chilly chopped or sliced .. 2 or 3
- Curry leaves ..1 sprig
Method
Wash thich phovu . In a wide bottomed vessel add thick phova n add just enough water to soak the phova ... (more water will make it mushy . so little water as each phova grains should be retained ) ... keep so soaked for about 20 mts .
Once water get absorbed n it softens, add salt n mix gently with hands ..Keep aside .
In a kadai add oil, splutter mustard seeds, add urid dhal n fry till brown , add chopped green chilly , curry leaves n stir .. Add the softened thick phovu , cook for a while n stir ..
Serve hot with shev/Chakuli
