Method
Soak small onions ( shallot onions ) in water for about 3 hours .. this will ease to peel the skin ..
Pressure cook Avrekalu with salt for 2 whistle till soft n dont discard the water .
In a kadai add oil, splutter mustard seeds , add curry leaves , small onions , crushed garlic n fry till soft n raw smell goes, add hing , tomatoes n cook till the raw smell of the tomatoes go .. add tamarind extract n cook for a minute , add all the powders n fry for a second , add salt then the brinjal along with cooked avrekalu and the water that was used to cook it .. boil it n then garnish with grated coconut n coriander leaves n mix well .

- Garlic flakes- 5
- Hing/Asafoetida-a pinch
- Tomato-1
- Tamarind paste- 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder- 1 tsp
