Varahi (Barnyard millet) Idlies


Varahi (Barnyard millet) Idlies
  • 1 Cup-Urid dhal
  • 1 cup - Varahi ( Barnyard Millet ) 
  • Salt to taste
Method
Soak Urid dhal for 3 hrs n grind to a fine paste n when about to remove add washed varahi n grind for few mts  ... Remove the batter n ferment overnight . Next day morning add salt ... mix well .

Grease idli mould with oil and Pour the  batter in it  n steam for 20 mts !

serve hot with chutney or sambar !


 Note : if grinding in grinder its 1 cup of urid dhal n 1 cup of varahi ,,,, if in Mixie then its 1 cup of urid dhal n 1/2 n lil more of varahi as varahi is a millet n harder than rice rawa ... If u want to add varahi directly to the ground urid dhal  batter after removing the way one adds idly rawa ..then grind it in a mixer jar for idly rawa consistency ... n directly add to the ground batter ,,,
