Ash Gourd Majjige Huli

Ash Gourd Majjige Huli 
  • Ash gourd -1/4 th kg 
  • Curry leaves -1 sprig 
  • Chana Dhal-2 tbsp 
  • Grated coconut-1/4 th cup 
  • Green chillies-2 or according to the taste.
  • Coriander leaves- 1/2 fist 
  • Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
  •  Curds-1 cup .
  •  Salt to taste 
Seasoning 
  • Oil-2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp 
  • Hing/Asafoetida-2 pinch
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp 
Method 
Wash ,peel n chop ash gourd to 2 inch pieces n cook it along with curry leaves  . 

Soak the chana dhal for 2 hours.

Churn the curds . 

Grind the soaked chana dhal, grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chillies, coriander leaves n turmeric powder  to a paste .    

Add the ground paste to the cooked ash gourd along with salt  n boil on sim flame . Then add the churned  curds n give a quick boil   n then give the seasoning.

Note: sour curds adds on to more taste .

Snake gourd, Bottle gourd, cucumber , chow chow , Amarnath Leaves etc can be used instead of Ash gourd ...
