Avrekalu /Hyacinth beans Kootu

Avrekalu /Hyacinth beans Kootu
  • Avrekalu /Hyacinth Beans ..1 cup
  • Groundnut ..2 tsp  
  • Ghee ..2 tsp 
  • Water as required to cook 
  • Salt to tatse 


To roast n grind to a fine paste 
  • Oil ..2 tsp 
  • Urid dhal -2 tsp
  • Coriander seeds-1 tblsp
  • Chana dhal -1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp 
  • Methi /Fenugreek Seeds -1/4 th tsp
  • Peppercorns-1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chilly- 3 or according to the spice 
  • Poppy seeds -1 tsp 
  • White Thil /Sesame Seeds -1 tsp
  • Grated coconut ..1/2 cup
  • Turmeric powder..1/4 th tsp
  • Tamarind ..Tamarind seed size
  • Onion-1 medium
  • Garlic..3 flakes 

Seasoning 
  • Oil-1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves -1 sprig  
Method
Wash Avrekalu  n set aside

Dry roast poppy seeds n white thil separately in sim flame  n keep aside to cool


In a pan add oil and roast urad dhal, chana dhal, coriander seeds, pepper corns , cumin seeds , methi seeds, and dry red chillies...take out n cool it

Chop onion roughly n peel garlic flakes 
Grind Dry roasted poppy seeds , white thil along with oil roasted urad dhal ,chana dhal coriander seeds, pepper corns, cumin seeds, methi seeds , dry red chilly ,chopped onion, peeled garlic flakes , grated coconut , turmeric powder n tamarind to a fine paste . 
In a kadai melt ghee n roast ground nuts n  avare kaalu for few minutes to remove rawness Add water and cook till soft.n tender. 
Add the ground paste to cooked stuffs  , water n boil . Then give the seasoning 
The consistency of the gravy should be  thick .
